I still have a handful of things to do before Four Shards goes out into the world — and those are held off by grading at the moment — but none of that is stopping me from starting some research on its sequel. On my desk right now are books and articles on Petra, Khirbet et-Tannur, The Tarpeian Rock, Varus and the 4BCE revolt in Jerusalem, as well as some assorted things on Alexandria and Rome in general.
It’s cool stuff. I’m particularly smitten with Khirbet et-Tannur in modern Jordan — a simply fascinating site.
