Hello there!
I thought it past time to post an update on all that’s going on here at Livingston HQ, from new documentaries to new books, from events to interviews!
In doing so, I know not everyone who follows me follows the same me. Some of you are fans of my work in non-fiction/history. Some of you love my work in fiction. Some of you enjoy my documentaries. To help you find the me that’s just for you, I’m going to break down the news into those basic categories.
And if, like me, you love it all, then the coming months will be a treat … starting with what’s likely to be the biggest release of my career!
NON-FICTION
BLOODY CROWNS / TWO HUNDRED YEARS WAR

As I said, probably the biggest book in my career … not just in size, but in what it attempts. It’s a single-volume history of the Hundred Years War that re-defines the scope, dates, and impact of this remarkable period of history: it was, I argue, a war lasting two centuries, and it fundamentally created the modern world. Here in the US it’s titled BLOODY CROWNS: A NEW HISTORY OF THE HUNDRED YEARS WAR and comes out on October 21. The book appears in the UK on October 9 with the title THE TWO HUNDRED YEAR WAR: THE BLOODY CROWNS OF ENGLAND AND FRANCE, 1292-1492.
There will also be a limited edition of 750 signed copies with a unique version of the UK cover — and an absolutely stunning sprayed edge — exclusively available from Broken Binding. Behold!

The book already has some high-placed reviews (I can’t say where), and I’m scheduled for a number of tie-in appearances to support the release. Aside from the many podcasts I’ll be on, here are the virtual and in-person events you can attend:
- October 21: How To Academy (virtual event, 6pm BST)
- October 29: Philosophers and Fools (in-person event in Charleston, SC, 6:30pm EST)
- January 22: Smithsonian (virtual event, 6:45pm EST)
AGINCOURT: BATTLE OF THE SCARRED KING

My book-length investigation into the battle of Agincourt, one of the most famous battles in history, made the short-list for the Crown Awards last year. I remain blown away by this. If you’ve been waiting to see what all the fuss is about, now’s the time to pick it up: it has just been released in paperback!
FICTION
SEABORN CYCLE

In fiction news, right now — this is not a drill! — we’re about halfway through the month of September. And that means we’re halfway through an on-going September read-along of my novel SEABORN. If you’d like to catch up on the fun, head on over to Livingstans.com (“Livingston Fans”) and sign up for the Discord server (it’s easy!). Folks there are posting their reactions and theories as they read through the book. They’re even making memes along the way! It’s all quite marvelous, and they’re going to celebrate their communal completion of the book by hosting a live, full-spoilers interview with me on October 4 at 1pm Eastern. It’s not too late to join in the adventure!
Those who’ve read SEABORN will no doubt want to read the second and third books in the trilogy: ICEBORN (already out) and STORMBORN (out in the UK and coming to the US on September 23). They make for a magnificent set!
SHARDS TRILOGY

My first novel series was Shards of Heaven, a historical fantasy running from the time of Antony and Cleopatra through the rise of Augustus Caesar. I loved it, fans loved it, but it never gained the big audience we all wanted for it. So I’m pleased to say that it’s getting new life with new titles and new covers!
The first book, now titled THE ARK AND THE EMPIRE, is coming on January 15, 2026, and it features the text folks know and love plus a new short story set in the same mythological world. The second and third books shouldn’t be far behind!
DOCUMENTARIES

Last but not least, if you’re not familiar with History Hit, you should be. It’s a streaming service/app, like Netflix, but with a lot more of me on it!
I’ve appeared on quite a few of their shows, and I shot three more this summer for a new series about Rebels. The first, about WILLIAM WALLACE, came out this month. The second, about OWAIN GLYNDWR, comes out on October 2. The third, about SIMON DE MONTFORT, will appear a bit later this year or early next. Great fun!
